GEOGRAPHICAL PROCESSES RESPONSIBLE FOR DROUGHTS.
There are many geographical processes associated with droughts.
Some of these processes are:
Southern Oscillation;
A Southern Oscillation is a major pressure shift which occurs between the Asian and East Pacific regions. An extreme form of Southern Oscillation is El Nino. El Nino is a current which results in extremely dry conditions and lack of rainfall.
Global Warming;
Many people argue that human-induced global warming effects have contributed to the severity of droughts.
Rainfall;
A drought is a long period without rain, and when there is a lack of rainfall, droughts occur.
Evaporation;
The sun's heat evaporates all the moisture in the atmosphere, thus making it drier, and less chance of rainfall occurring, which leads to droughts.
Latitude;
A change in mid-latitude (60 degrees) depression tracks. These are related to weather changes, such as extreme dry weather.
